Executive summary

A Global Hospitality Brand had loyalty programs, but guests were not using them. Engagement ran across separate systems and channels, communications were generic, and guests could not easily see what their loyalty was worth. The brand could not see much either: booking behavior, engagement patterns and program performance sat in different places.

Dezigndia built a digital guest engagement platform over 14 months: loyalty program management, a personalized rewards engine, a guest communication hub, campaign tools and a customer analytics dashboard, delivered on web and Android. The team was a product consultant, a UX designer, full stack developers and QA specialists on an agile time and material basis.

Platforms of this type raise loyalty program participation by around 35%, grow guest engagement by around 29% and increase repeat bookings by around 22%.

About the client

A Global Hospitality Brand serves guests across many destinations, properties and travel experiences. Guest expectations are now set by personalized digital services everywhere else, and the brand wanted to modernize how it engaged people before, during and after a stay.

The goal was a loyalty-led engagement platform that improves retention, strengthens brand affinity and turns a first stay into a second one.

The challenge

What was breaking.

Guest engagement was managed through a mix of separate systems, communication channels and loyalty schemes, which made a consistent experience across the guest lifecycle impossible. Guests received generic messages, had limited visibility of their benefits, and got little that would draw them back. With competition in hospitality intensifying, loyalty and long-term guest relationships had become a board-level priority.

  1. 01

    Fragmented guest experiences

Interactions were spread across multiple systems, so the same guest looked like several different people and the experience broke between touchpoints.

  2. 02

    Low loyalty program participation

Many guests did not engage with loyalty benefits at all, because awareness was low and the experience of using them was inconsistent.

  3. 03

    Limited personalization

The brand lacked tools to tailor rewards, promotions and communications to a guest's preferences and behavior.

  4. 04

    Incomplete customer insights

Business teams had limited visibility of engagement patterns, booking behavior and loyalty program performance.

  5. 05

    Retention and repeat booking challenges

Holding a guest's loyalty over time needed more sophisticated engagement than the existing programs could deliver.

Business impact

Disconnected engagement reduced loyalty participation, limited retention, and held the brand back from offering the differentiated experience its properties were capable of.

Approach

How we went at it.

Dezigndia built a hospitality engagement strategy around one guest record. Loyalty programs, rewards management, guest communication and customer intelligence would all read from and write to it, so that a guest's history at one property informs the offer they see at another. Personalization and data-driven engagement sat on top of that foundation, with the platform designed to carry future campaigns and programs without rework.

The objective was a guest engagement platform that increases loyalty participation, strengthens retention, improves personalization and grows the long-term value of each guest.

  1. 01

    Guest journey assessment

Guest interactions, booking behaviors and engagement touchpoints were analyzed to find where participation and retention could be improved.

  2. 02

    Loyalty experience optimization

Loyalty flows redesigned so that rewards are visible, benefits are personal and there is a reason to keep engaging between stays.

  3. 03

    Personalization framework

Targeted recommendations, promotions and rewards driven by guest preferences and history.

  4. 04

    Customer intelligence enablement

Analytics on engagement trends, loyalty performance and guest lifetime value for the teams running the programs.

  5. 05

    Scalable engagement architecture

A platform flexible enough for future loyalty initiatives, campaigns and engagement programs.

Campaign management platform

Tools for launching targeted loyalty campaigns, promotional offers and engagement initiatives without a development cycle.

Architecture

How it is built.

Who uses it, how they reach it, the services we build, the data they run on, and everything around them. Much of the edge, identity, workflow and observability layer comes from the Channel Loyalty & Engagement platform already in production, which is where the timeline came from.

Architecture of the Guest loyalty and engagement platform. Users: Guests, Front desk, Property managers, Brand marketing. Edge and access: CDN and WAF (CloudFront), API gateway (rate limits, keys), Guest identity (Cognito). Application services: Guest app (Android and web), Loyalty engine (Node.js), Offer personalization (model), Property integration layer (adapters). Data: Guest profiles and points (RDS PostgreSQL), Cache and sessions (ElastiCache Redis). Integrations: Property systems (PMS), Booking engine (API), Payments (gateway), Email and push (SES, SNS). Analytics: Guest segments (behavior), Campaign performance (by property), Event stream (Kinesis). Storage and delivery: Offer media (S3), Read replica (reporting load), Static delivery (CloudFront). Observability and security: Alarms and logs (CloudWatch), Audit trail (append-only), Secrets and keys (KMS), Backups (point-in-time).

Results

What changed.

Putting every guest interaction on one record and every loyalty benefit in one visible place changes participation. Guests can see what they have earned and what comes next, and the offers they receive reflect where they have stayed and what they chose. Marketing and loyalty teams can see which campaigns bring guests back and adjust in flight rather than after the season.

Indicative outcomes for a platform of this type: loyalty program participation up around 35%, guest engagement up around 29%, and repeat bookings up around 22%. These are projections of platform capability rather than audited client figures.

Business outcomes

The brand delivers more personal guest experiences, runs a loyalty program that guests actually use, wins more repeat bookings, and holds longer relationships with the guests it has already earned.

Operationally, the loyalty and marketing teams work differently. Campaigns are set up, run and tracked in one place, and the results are visible to the property teams as well as to head office. Reward rules live in the platform rather than in a document, so a change to a benefit reaches every channel at once. The analytics dashboard shows which segments respond, which properties drive repeat stays and where lifetime value is concentrated, which is the information a loyalty program needs to justify its budget.

Why this project matters

Beyond the numbers.

Guest loyalty is one of the strongest growth drivers in hospitality. Travelers expect personal experiences and meaningful rewards at every stage of a trip, and brands that cannot deliver them lose the second booking.

  • Visibility into guest behavior and engagement trends.
  • Higher guest retention and repeat bookings.
  • Lower overhead in running and measuring campaigns.
  • Personalization across guest touchpoints.
  • Stronger guest relationships and brand affinity.
  • Higher loyalty program participation and effectiveness.
  • A foundation for future hospitality initiatives.

Strategic impact

Loyalty technology, personalization and customer intelligence together give a hospitality brand a way to strengthen guest relationships and improve business performance at the same time. Connecting engagement, rewards and analytics in one platform made the brand's guest experience more personal and its loyalty program a working commercial asset.
